Meet Our Creative Director and Instructor:
Amanda Blaire Thompson is a native of Raleigh, NC who grew up performing in musical and drama productions with her school, church and local community theatres. She taught music at Orange Christian School and Trinity Christian School in the Orlando, FL area. Blaire moved back to Raleigh to help start Journey Church where she has lead worship for the Kids Community for the past eight years.
With the birth of her children, Blaire became a homeschooling mother. She then pursued her dream of opening up her own studio, and Raleigh Area Children’s Theatre (Raleigh ACT) was born!
Blaire is an active and involved member of the local theatre community. In 2010 she acted in Raleigh Little Theatre’s production of ‘Light in the Piazza’ and played the niece in Theatre in the Park’s ‘A Christmas Carol’. She later completed a run in North Carolina Theatre’s 2011 production of ‘Evita’. Most recently, Blaire reprised her role as niece in the 2012 and 2014 Theatre in the Park production of ‘A Christmas Carol’.
Following her love of music, dance and fitness, in 2011 Blaire became a certified instructor to teach Zumba, Zumbatomic and Shabam. She offers these adult and children classes at her own studio and also teaches Zumba in partnership with other local studios.
Blaire is excited about Raleigh ACT because it blends two of her passions: teaching and musical theatre. She looks forward to helping your children develop their talents, while passing along her passion for theatre, music and fitness fun.
